Don Meyer – Legendary Student of the Game!
With the recent passing of legendary basketball coach Don Meyer, I got to reflect on the trait about coach that I personally admired most. I didn’t really know coach. I met him a time or two in passing and I followed his programs from afar, and over the years have amassed a large collection of his coaching notes that have been passed down to me. I do though feel very confident in saying that Coach Don Meyer was a leader, basketball fanatic, and what is a rapidly dying characteristic in coaching, a TRUE student of the game!

The Madness of March!!!
March Madness is upon us! The greatest and most exciting month is sport’s is now rolling with conference tournaments in full swing across the nation! Almost nightly teams are punching their tickets to the Big Dance and filling a line on the all elusive 68 team bracket that initially began as a 8 team tournament back in 1939. Since then it has grown to epidemic proportions in terms of intrigue and excitement that it brings not only to our country, but also globally! However Championship week also has its fair share of disappointments as bubbles are busted and careers come to an end a little prematurely as upsets are commonplace in the final week prior to the actual NCAA Tournament.

Holidays and Hoops
If you are a basketball player or coach you undoubtedly have a unique relationship with the upcoming Holiday Season that is rapidly approaching! When most families think of Christmas and New Years as a time for parties, socials, dinners, gift exchanges and Christmas musicals or plays; those that are in a basketball family may have a little bit different view.
The Season’s 1st Game!
College basketball season is officially here! The first game day of the year always has a special feel for me as I have dedicated my life, up to this point, to the game of basketball. I have had the opportunity to coach in different systems under a diverse group or coaches and in several different parts of the country, but when that initial game on the schedule finally arrives it is always a very similar feeling.
Pre-Season Hoops Contests!
Most if not all college basketball coaches refer to the season in 4 parts, the pre-season, non-conference schedule, conference, and the post season. In a perfect world, each part prepares you to do grow as a unit and be even better when the next segment of the season arrives. If this indeed takes place your team will find itself competing for a league championship in March and ultimately the post-season spectacle of the NCAA Tournament!
