My experience in Thibodaux, Louisiana has been filled with nothing but positive memories and experiences. This Louisiana town, which lies on the bayou just south of I-10 is home to about 15,000 people as well as Nicholls State University! A town filled with outgoing people, great food, and for the most part spectacular weather has been my home for the past 8+ months.

College basketball season is officially here! The first game day of the year always has a special feel for me as I have dedicated my life, up to this point, to the game of basketball. I have had the opportunity to coach in different systems under a diverse group or coaches and in several different parts of the country, but when that initial game on the schedule finally arrives it is always a very similar feeling.

Tis’ the season for Homecoming celebrations across the nation.  This is the tradition of welcoming back alumni of a school at universities, colleges and high schools. It typically includes events for current students and alumni, such as sports and culture events and a parade through the streets of the campus, city or town. The tradition of Homecoming has its origins in alumni football games held at colleges and universities since the mid-1800s. Many schools have tried to lay claim to having the first Homecoming, but it is unclear as to who was the first to host such activities, however the NCAA recognizes the University of Missouri as the birthplace of Homecoming in 1911.

After 12 years as a Division I college basketball coach, I took advantage of an amazing opportunity last year to work for the NBA as 1st Assistant Coach for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Developmental League which is affiliates for the Back to Back World Champion Miami Heat!
